A liquor initiative in Lubbock for your amewsment

Some of you may have heard that Lubbock is dry. That’s not only for the weather,  you can’t buy wine, beer or liquor from a store in the city limits of Lubbock.

Serious efforts--both pro and con--are under way to address the situation.

But the most recent initiative that I know in regard to alcohol involves a very determined little kitten.

A quick digression to set this up.  You have to go outside of the city limits of Lubbock to buy booze in a neon-lit line of liquor stores called The Strip.

Back to the blog at hand, three nights ago, a neighbor rang my doorbell and said, “Do you want him? My husband made a trip to The Strip and thought he heard something under the hood when he got back.”

In her arms was one of the most adorable little gray-and-white kittens you’ve ever seen.

There was no answer but yes, of course.

And for a moment, the plummeting stock market, contentious election, and economic uncertainty which have hung in the air for days, if not weeks, lifted. . .as a new little life scampered about-- happy, curious, unsullied.

The name of the new kitten--Pinkie. Sorry, Doc’s and Double T. Maybe next cat.

Pinkie?!? by ReneeCK
No, no. A more appropriate name for a kitten found on the strip would be Jack or Jager, or some such mischevious name. (Said she who has a brown dog named Kahlua!)

I empathize with your dry situation. My state is dry on Sunday and depending on the county that may or may not include restauarants. It's maddening to have to stock up for the Superbowl on Saturday.
