Sunday Tag Slag

I was tagged in Miss Attitude’s blog yesterday.  This is one of those getting to know you and forward/tag 5 friends kind of thing.  I do find them interesting and the last time I was tagged, it was on a scrapooking blog I have as aside to my online gallery.  It’s interesting to look at the differences between then and now.

The first part of the tagging requires you to link to the person who tagged you.  So, if you missed the actual tag blog from Miss Attitude or just want to check out her entire body of work here on skrit!, you can find it at http://skirt.com/blog/4106.

The next part is that you reveal 5 fun/interesting facts about yourself.  Hmm, okay.  Because you don’t know enough about me as it is.  I’ll try to make these really juicy.

#1.  I had a fibroid tumor when I was pregnant with my son that required surgery to be removed 9 weeks postpartum.  Subsequently, all my future pregnancies would be high risk.  Therefore, we consider ourselves blessed with the boy and the girl we have. And when people gush over the fact that my baby is in first grade and then say “it’s the right time to have another with the other two at school all day!” I want to punch them.

#2.  I loathe cold.  It is what sent me from Michigan down to Georgia.  The fact that I was born January 24, the dead center of winter, in Michigan, one of the colder locales in the country, is the very definition of irony.

#3.  I am a florist.  That is to say, I took a year of floriculture at a technical school my junior year when I was either going to be a florist or a teacher.  I decided in the long run that unless I owned my own shop, I wouldn’t make any decent money as a florist despite the fact that my teacher was continually blown away by the unique pieces I created.

#4.  I am now addicted to this fabulous stuff known as cranberry celebration.  I found it at Kroger where they were sampling it in the meat section. (Don’t ask cuz I can’t tell you.)  It’s a cranberry relish but it has pineapple in it so it’s sweeter.  OMG!  My friend, who I adore but never have enough time to call back, saw that I called it cracktastic and sent me the recipe which I’m glad to have considering that the one I have has preservatives.

Ginny Moorehouse's Cranberry Celebration Salad.

"I've been making this for 15 years for my family", Ginny said.
1 pkg cherry or strawberry jello
1 cup boiling liquid: 1/2 cup ea orange juice and water
1-3/4 cups cranberry sauce, jelled type
1 cup diced celery (opt but good)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

3/4 cup crushed drained pineapple
Dissolve jello in boiling liquid. Add cranberry sauce and blend. When it starts to congeal, add other ingredients. This will not get real firm.

#5.  Now that I’m on facebook, a slew of my high school classmates are friending me.  I had an epiphany a year or so before my 10 year reunion when I pulled out my yearbook to prove to my husband that the very same Jon Runyan who was playing in the Superbowl with the Tennessee Titans was the same one who graduated a year behind me from high school.  I looked at all the glossy faces that had been my compass, dictated what I wore, how I did my hair, what kind of music I liked, and many other things that made “my” life sooo not mine up until 1991.  Despite that, I am loving seeing where (most of) them have ended up. One guy lives in North Carolina because the culinary delights there.  While I might have suspected he’d be growing herbs at 35, basil, oregano, cilantro, etc. were not the herbs I had in mind.

So. there’s my 5 facts.  However, it’s Sunday, it’s cold, and the sore throat I’ve been nursing for 2 days is still lingering so part 3, the part where you tag 5 people, I’m going to leave open ended.  If you want to tell us 5 things about you, please do. Here’s my thing about these forward to “5” people things.  You can forward but only so many people are going to reply.  So, I can name names but if they’re unwilling participants, they aren’t going to play anyway. And in the meantime, there are many cool people who we don’t know as well as we should who will want to answer.  So, if you want to answer and haven’t already been tagged, have fun and post the link below so we can get to know you. Oh, okay, I’ll take it back. I do want Lucky Mama to speak up.  And Cheryl may have already tagged her.  I’m too cold to care enough to chase down who all gets tagged from Miss Attitudes posting.

Hope you learned and I’m sorry to be so bitchy.  I think I need to go to make some coffee.

Enjoy!
